Thank You Target

I'm glad to know I am not the only poor person in the world who has a taste level way beyond her financial status level. I've always been this way. Even as a little kid I would walk into TJ Max and pick up, on the first try, the most expensive handbag in the store. Sucks. Thankfully the fine people at Target want to bring luxury to lamens, design to debtees, and Missoni to me!

On September 13th Missoni will hit Target stores with over 400 products! They will not only be doing apparel but all of their houseware categories and accessories as well. I plan on turning my rental into something you would see on Hoarders, all filled with Missoni printed baubles, hand towels, and salad plates.

I once again I thank my friends for filling me in on this tidbit of life changing information. Since I don't watch the news, read the paper, or live in New York anymore, my bubble tends to be out of the loop.

Here we go...

After getting requests from 3 different people in one week to start blogging I've decided to do it. Plus, I can't sleep. I seem to be the go to person to answer questions like, who has the best inexpensive cocktail dresses for summer, what's a great appetizer recipe, who is the best tailor in KC, etc. This will be a place to answer all of those questions and a place to pass on all of the random knowledge that I acquire everyday in my life as a visual merchandiser and professional eaves dropper.

Recently my mother, who for the sake of anonymity, we shall refer to as...mom, told me that you can clean your house with vodka. So, you can get drunk. On vodka. Then clean your house. With vodka. And then pass out in a house that is now messier than when you started. Or, you could clean your house. With vodka. Then reward yourself. With vodka. And pass out in a clean house. Or you could do what my good friends the Brantman's did mix pineapple infused vodka with Pelegrino limonata. Add a couple ice cubes. You can then all a cleaning service and sit in your back yard getting drunk. On pineapple vodka. While someone else cleans your house.

Or you could do what my friend's Pam and Tina and did... You can decide that your cheap lambrusco isn't strong enough and decide (Pam) to mix flavoured vodka into your cheap lambrusco. Now, this is for the slightly more, how should I put this, alcoholic of readers. And your house will probably never be clean (Tina) but you will have some funny stories to tell down the road when you have lost your job and are now cleaning hotel rooms for a living (me).

Point being... you have a lot of options. With vodka.

A while back Amber from the Darling Room and I did a photo shoot with photographer Emily Moore. We used our friend Ashley for the shoot, I did the fashion styling (thank you Standard Style for the clothes), Amber did the hair, and Emily shot it. Though it was a lot of fun, I was hoping for a little more versatility from the shoot. Regardless, Ashley looks great. Here are some photos.

The Darling Room

If you have ever been into the darling room you know that the space lives up to it's name. It really is a darling room with kind of a dark twist to it. I love it. Plus, they carry amazing products that are hard to find around here, employ awesome stylists, and without fail- you will leave the salon with a disgusting tidbit of information that always makes for great cocktail party small talk. Trust me. I went in last week for a much needed bang trim and I left with knowledge of the new Lars Von Trier film. It's called antichrist and I'm not sure I can stomach it. Habitat Shoe Boutique

We love our friends over at Habitat Shoe Boutique. Take a look at one of the window displays I did for them. It's kind of hard to tell from the photos, but the idea was to do a modern take on old hunting paintings. At that time they had such amazing wool coats and plaid shirts for men, and beautiful leather boots for ladies and I wanted to showcase all of that in a cool way. The windows in this store have major UV protection on them so I couldn't really show you the view from outside of the store.
